The Project Zacch Team has been trained to do the iterative process on its approach to create a better way of learning for all our Eco Warriors.
We have been conducting weekly sessions on Solid Waste Management (SWM) to our informal waste collectors (IWCs) in Bgy. Jacana to empower them and provide technical understanding on their job in the waste industry.
However, we have noticed that it was hard to gather them all at once because of their schedule as collectors and some other responsibilities on their households.
Thus, our team found a way to enable those who were absent to catch up on the learnings they have missed.
Our Eco Kolek team voluntarily conducts remedial classes and continuously encourages our Eco Warriors that learning is fun and learning is always available for them.
Kudos to all our teammates who have developed a deeper sense of love and care for all our IWCs in the Eco Kolek project in partnership with USAID.
Our Eco Warriors, through Eco Kolek, partnered with JCI Puerto Princesa - Oil and Peacock, and SM Mall
Palawan for its 4Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover) Market Project in celebration of the Environment Month on June 2022.
According to Brian Agustin, Eco Kolek’s operations head, this kind of exposure to the Eco Warriors will strengthen their conviction to care for the environment and will further empower them as they become active participants on city-wide activities that are aligned with their advocacy.
Plastics collected, which were mostly transparent plastic bottles, were turned over by JCI to the Eco Warriors as part of the latter’s daily collection.
“Salamat sa tulong ninyo sa pangangalaga ng ating kalikasan sa pamamagitan ng ganitong klaseng gawain,” said Vice Mayor Nancy Socrates on her message to the organizers and partners.
This activity will be conducted every first Saturday of the month at the entrance of SM Lacao Traveller’s Lounge according to Russel Fernandez of JCI Oil.
Other partnering agencies with this endeavor include the Oplan Linis of the City Government of Puerto Princesa, Rotaract, and Declutter Palawan.
CCBO and Project Zacch (PZC) works together to develop a curriculum on Interpersonal Communication (IPC). This step-by-step curriculum manual will guide Project Zacch to effectively conduct IPC trainings for its Eco Warriors (and other community grassroot partners).
IPC is among the social and behavioural change (SBC) strategies of PZC to promote SWM by enhancing Eco Warrior’s skills in communication, and boost their self-confidence when dealing with people, especially during their operations to collect recyclables with household and business establishments.
This Manual aims to guide other community-based organizations and social enterprises who also have a heart in empowering informal waste collectors (IWCs) to become community leader partners in addressing SWM concerns.
