In line with Typhoon Odette’s rehabilitation efforts in Puerto Princesa, the City Government initiated a Clean-Up Drive inviting volunteers to participate on January 8, 2022.
With an estimated number of more than 900 truckloads of green wastes, the fastest way to clean up the roads and ensure the safety of the motorists is to conduct a community-based clean-up to hasten the process.
However, the ongoing local restrictions for COVID-19 only allow fully vaccinated citizens to participate. Thus, seven Eco-Warriors qualified as volunteers together with at least 1,000 individuals who took the initiative to join the said activity to clean up the streets from the debris of fallen trees along with its target areas.
Bancao-Bancao, the community where our Eco Warriors reside, has the greatest number of green wastes left by Odette amongst all urban barangays in Puerto Princesa, according to the City Solid Waste Management.
It was a great time for our Eco Warriors to become part of the City’s volunteer force in situations like this. They moved from place to place and worked hand-in-hand with volunteers from the Philippine National Police, Coast Guard, military, Bureau of Fire, and employees of the City Government of Puerto Princesa.
Go Eco-Warriors!
