Eco Kolek, in close collaboration with the Sta. Monica Local Government Unit (LGU), has successfully launched a Solid Waste Management (SWM) Roadshow titled "Basura Mo, Basura Ba Talaga?" The campaign was designed to address the growing concerns around waste management within the community by promoting waste segregation at the source and building strong partnerships aimed at reducing waste.
The roadshow spanned two days and targeted thirteen puroks within Barangay Sta. Monica. During these sessions, Eco Kolek engaged the local community through interactive discussions, educational materials, and hands-on demonstrations. The focus was on enlightening participants about the importance of segregating waste at its source, understanding the different types of waste, and how proper waste management practices can significantly reduce the burden on the environment.
The first day of the roadshow kicked off with the active participation of 19 residents (5 males and 14 females). The session covered the basics of waste segregation, with Eco Kolek facilitators explaining the different waste categories and how each type should be handled. Participants were encouraged to ask questions and share their concerns, making the session highly interactive and informative.
On the second day, the campaign saw a significant increase in attendance, with 73 participants (19 males and 54 females) joining the activities. This session delved deeper into community-driven waste collection strategies and the benefits of maintaining a clean and sustainable environment. The participants were motivated to take ownership of their waste management practices and to actively collaborate with their neighbors and the local government in these efforts.
The "Basura Mo, Basura Ba Talaga?" roadshow marks an essential step forward in Eco Kolek’s ongoing mission to foster sustainable waste management practices within Sta. Monica. Through these collaborative efforts, Eco Kolek and the Sta. Monica LGU hope to create a cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally conscious community.
